M° Liutaio Giovanni Lazzaro

Giovanni Lazzaro, born in Padova in 1967, successfully completed his studies at the International Luthiers school of Cremona in 1985. Since 1987 he has been working in Padova and since 1991 in his workshop at Via Bezzecca, 17.

His skills were refined under the guidance of some of the greatest Italian violin makers and restorers (Riccardo Bergonzi - Cremona, Giancarlo Guicciardi - Modena, Igor Moroder - Verona) as well as by attending workshops and seminars in Italy and worldwide including the “7Th Stringed Instrument Restoration Workshop”, Oberlin, Ohio – USA, “Vernix 2000”, San Juan, Porto Rico – USA, “5th Niccolò Paganini Restoration Workshop – Old Varnish Retouching”, Parma 2008.

He was a pupil of some of the greatest American restorers as Hans J. Nebel (pupil of Simone F. Sacconi, Casa Wurlitzer - New York), Horacio Piniero (former director of Jaque Français restoration workshop - New York), Kenneth Meyer, Yung Chin and Vahkn Nigogosian (pupil of Simone F. Sacconi, New York). Giovanni is also the exclusive instrument curator of several well-known Italian and foreign musicians.

Each year he makes a few high quality, select instruments that are admired both for their excellent sound and for their beautiful form. His instruments are played in the best Italian concert halls, quartets and Orchestras (La Scala - Milano, L’Arena - Verona, Teatro Stabile - Bologna, La Fenice - Venezia, Teatro Olimpico - Vicenza, Santa Cecilia – Roma, Teatro Regio –Parma etc.) as well as in the USA, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Germany, Austria, Spain, France etc.

His conscientious and methodical approach to his work enabled him to perfect and refine his art, making, restoring, setting up and maintaining bowed instruments.
